What is APOLOGETICS? Does that have something to do with apologizing?

If you are like me, you have to use a dictionary when you read some of the modern and ancient documents of the church (which I highly encourage!).  The organized doctrine of the Bible is a science called Theology and just like biology, psychology, and the other ologies, there are terms associated with the identification of certain teachings or doctrines.  You may have heard your pastor or Sunday school teacher say a word like "eschatology" and wonder what in the world he was talking about.  Well, there are many great Theological dictionaries out there, but if you don't have the money or the time to go out and purchase one, below is a link to a helpful on-line resource.  It isn't exhaustive, but helpful for quick reference.  It is called the "Dictionary of Big and Swollen Theological Words."  I thought that it might be helpful next time your pastor dazzles you with some of those enormous words that only full-time churchmen use.  Don't get me wrong this isn't out there to mock such words or the people that use them.  I think it is great that one would want to know what the Word of God says and also the systems devised to explain the Holy Book.  I think it is a way to further your education.  I do like the title though.  It is amusing.
