There is a lot of people who divide Israel and the Church in their Theology. I am not against National Israel, but many Theologians make more of them than Scripture intends, and even in some cases deifies them. Due to chapters in the Bible like Romans 11, Galatians 3, and the entire book of Hebrews, there is a message about Israel that many miss. Israel is not of the flesh, but of the Spirit. It comes through the gift of faith by the grace of God. Nobody can rely on the flesh. The Bible talks about a "seed of faith." Those who belong to Abraham do not belong to him in the flesh, but in the Spirit. In Matthew 3:9-10 NKJV, Jesus said to the Pharisees and Sadducees "and do not think to say to yourselves,'We have Abraham as our father.' For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire." Check out these two videos by John Piper. The first one deals well with the issue of Israel and how the Bible teaches that we should see it. Also, there are many Theologians and preachers who tend to read too much into the symbolism of the Bible. I think that the second video is a good illustration of how one must approach this.
