Coarse Jesting - Thoughts on Crude Joking and Where to Draw the Line

We are going through the book of Ephesians in my church, and our pastor has been doing an excellent job in expositing the Scriptures faithfully. Today I think we are nearing Ephesians 5, and I am interested for sure in what he has to say about it. Nevertheless, there is a verse in this chapter, verse 4 to be exact that has always interested my thoughts, and I have never gotten a straight answer from anyone on. Here it is.

My Personal Journey: How Are We Supposed To Live With Textual Variants in Our Bibles? Part 4: The Last Installment for Now.

I will get to my opinions on the whole matter at the end of this post, but presently I want to continue sharing my journey concerning this issue of Bible Manuscripts, Church History, and Bible Translations. There is a lot of information out there that usually gets
filtered through a denominational lens and is usually obscured by the time it reaches the average man or woman. The average man or woman really doesn't have time to sift through all of this, and even if they did, they wouldn't. Most of the time when I discuss this issue with people, their eyes glaze over and I lose them. There is a lot of technical information out there, and it can be very bland and sterile to go through. Calvinism? Is It Something We Should Be Concerned About?

I live in a part of the world that is probably 20 years or so behind everyone else. In some ways that is good, and in others it isn't so much. In rural south Arkansas, there is a plethora of Baptist Churches.
Many of them are barely hanging on, while some have remained healthy. We also have some of the other denominations around like your Methodists, Presbyterians, Lutherans (barely), and Episcopalians. We also have a Roman Catholic presence, but I am only familiar with a few that go there. The closest Eastern Orthodox Church is in Shreveport, and I have met a few that drive down there to worship. Now if you aren't familiar with Baptists, there are at least 57 different kinds of Baptists in North America last time I counted, and that was a while ago. I suppose the thrust of this piece will be to ask the question: "Should we be concerned with Calvinism within the Baptist Church?"
